My name is Roberto Molinar. I live in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. Across the border from El Paso, TX.

I am a diabetic person since I was seventeen years old. I am now forty seven. But lately for about three years I've been out of control having highs and lows on my glucose. I've been drinking Diet Coke ever since it came out. I was drinking from six to ten cokes a day. I am no longer drinking coke for the past five months but I'm still drinking Diet Seven-Up between one and two per day until today.

About three years ago I started getting weaker on a daily basis. On December 1997 I went to the Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles and was seen by Dr. King of the Neurological Center of U.S.C. He told me that I probably had ALS but he wasn't sure. In January of 1998 I could no longer walk by my self and seven months after I could no longer move my arms or hands.

In April of 1999 I went to see Dr. Rivera in Houston, TX. He works at Baylor University in the Neurological Center. He told me that in his thirty-something years of working with neurological patients both in Mexico and the USA he had never seen a case like mine because he said that both the neurological disease and the diabetes disease were working together at the same time. I got the idea that he wasn't sure what he was looking at because he never told me the name of the disease.

I'm having my daughter helping me type this letter and if you have any more information about what's wrong with me please let me know right away.

If you need to know more about my case please let me know.  I forgot to tell you that I don't have any pain, my memory and vision are ok. My heart and blood pressure are fine. I have problems speaking and swallowing. But other than that I am ok.
Please write ASAP.
