The Barcelona Study - The Accumulation of Formaldehyde from Aspartame in Body Tissues

In a paper that I like to refer to as "The Barcelona Study", wherein they more-or-less recently showed that formaldehyde from aspartame breakdown accumulates in the tissues in what might be an exponential fashion. Imagine that one molecule of formaldehyde is laid down on top of another, protecting the ones on the bottom from further chemical breakdown until such time as one detoxes, when they are then peeled off one at a time, go into the blood stream, and then break down into the chemicals that make us have all these bad reactions.

Although that Barcelona study (http://presidiotex.com/barcelona) is just a little hard to read, since it is a scientific paper, it is very significant, because in other countries besides the US, we can see that scientific research is conducted in a little more of a non-political manner than it is here when it comes to Monsanto's interests; and also because of the findings that aspartame does indeed turn into formaldehyde and cause a cumulative buildup, particularly in the liver. That is why you must go through a period of detoxification.

"The nature of the tissue label accumulated was, thus, a direct consequence of formaldehyde binding to tissue structures."

This "labeling" referred to here was the addition of radioactive material that could be traced to tissues in the rats upon examination, demonstrating the fact that formaldehyde was binding to tissues in the rat's bodies.

"The administration of labeled aspartame to a group of cirrhotic rats resulted in comparable label retention by tissue components, which suggests that liver function (or its defect) has little effect on formaldehyde formation from aspartame and binding to biological components."

I think they are suggesting here that the liver does not clean the toxins out of the rats' systems as one would hope it might.

"The chronic treatment of a series of rats with 200 mg/kg of non-labeled aspartame during 10 days resulted in the accumulation of even more label when given the radioactive bolus, suggesting that the amount of formaldehyde adducts coming from aspartame in tissue proteins and nucleic acids
may be cumulative."

I think they are suggesting that by using "labeled" and "non-labeled" aspartame, they can demonstrate that the more aspartame one receives, the more the cumulative effect takes place, in an exponential rather than a linear fashion. In other words, a higher percentage of what you take in accumulates as you use more of it.

" It is concluded that aspartame consumption may constitute a hazard because of its contribution to the formation of formaldehyde adducts."

I don't know what "adducts" are, but I assume they saying that there gets to be more formaldehyde in you when you use the stuff, and I know that can't be good unless you are planning on being embalmed sometime soon!

This, of course, flies in the face of all the claims that Monsanto and its little spokesmen at the ADA and other bogus health organizations are saying, that aspartame just breaks down into water. Why do I get the feeling that some of the people running Monsanto are inherently evil?
